  1. Start the Shot: Frame your subject on one of the imaginary vertical lines of the rule of thirds grid (the lines that divide the screen into three sections). Don't center them.


  2. Move In: Physically move the camera straight forward, slowly and smoothly, toward your subject.


  3. Keep subject in same spot of rule of thirds: This will help you keep  As you move, keep the subject on that same vertical line. You may need to make small side-to-side adjustments to stay aligned.


  4. Stop: End the shot when you are at the desired closeness to your subject. The final image should still have your subject off-center, but now they fill more of the frame.
